The sound of Abhimaan's footsteps was making her more nervous than his silence ever could...
Paridhi was standing by the doorway, watching Abhimaan pace back and forth across the bedroom like the floor had done something to him...
His fingers kept running through his hair, messing it up completely, which would have been funny at any other time..
"Why did you go into the kitchen, Pari, even after I told you not to?" he shouted, looking at her
Suddenly her stupid eyes filled with tears, and she looked away fast because she really didn't want to cry right now...
She had only wanted to make him something nice. That was the whole plan. And now here she was in a totally different situation..
"Ji wo-woh main..." she stammered, her voice barely a whisper, before a sob escaped her lips.
[Actually I was.... ]
Abhimaan went completely quiet. He looked at her face, the way her lip was trembling..
He walked over to her slowly. Then he tapped her nose with one finger. She blinked and looked up at him, surprised...
"Shh, bachha. Don't cry, please. I'm sorry," he murmured, stepping closer to her and tuck a loose hair behind her ear gently.
Whipped!!
"Don't cry na," he said softly.
"I mean it. I can't stand it when you cry. I was just worried about you. The kitchen can be dangerous, and I don't want you to get hurt..."
"I'm not crying," she said..
A tear rolled down her cheek. He gave her a look that said he knew better..
"Okay," she whispered. "Just a little bit crying."
He laughed and pulled her into his arms, hugging her properly..
She tensed for a second, then let out a slow breath and buried her face in his chest..
"Ham aapke liye kuch banana chahte the," she mumbled into his shirt, voice muffled.
[I wanted to make something special for you,]
His arms wrapped tighter around her.
"I know," he said softly, pressing his lips gently on top of her head.
He pulled back a little so he could see her face. Her eyes were still a bit watery, her nose a little red. He brushed her cheek with his thumb, very carefully...
"You don't have to cook, or prove anything, or do anything," he said, lifting her chin so she had to look at him.
"Just being here, just being yourself that's already enough."
She looked at him.
"I just want to be a good wife," she said quietly..
"Pari," he said. "You already are. You always have been."
His thumb brushed her cheek one more time. "I'm sorry for scaring you."
She stayed quiet for a moment. Then she pressed her hand against his chest and looked up at him.
"Koi baat nahi," she said softly.
[It's okay,]
